Dear BRFC Family,
I am writing to you all with an update and wrap up to our fall 15’s season. The fall season at times was a struggle, but we grew as a team and played some sensational rugby, especially in our last match. While we were definitely hoping for a better performance, considering we moved into a higher conference this year and were facing stronger competition, I am proud of the fight and determination that the team showed.
In our last game, facing Bowdoin in the Lindbergh Cup, we were missing many players, yet showed incredible determination and were able to end our season on a high note with a win. Some of the highlights from that game included stellar tackling, scrumming, and carrying by Aiden Habas ‘28, during his first game back from an injury. Throughout the game, Aiden set the tone with hard tackles and tough carries, often requiring three or four people to bring him down.
I would also like to acknowledge our three seniors, Peter Lee, Augustus Giller, and Hudson Svigals, who all have been huge contributors to the club throughout their time here at Bates and have undoubtedly made a lasting impact on the club. They all played a full 80 minutes in last weekend's win against Bowdoin, capping off their impressive 15’s careers with a rivalry win. This club could not be where it is today without these seniors, and we truly appreciate them.
Looking forward, we are looking forward to the offseason of training and conditioning to prepare for the 7's season in the spring. We are hoping to continue our trend of playing sensational 7’s, and are especially excited for the Maine Cup, where we hope to reclaim our title after coming up just short last year. We head into winter feeling grateful for a successful and fun 15’s season and excited for the spring season to come.
Best,
