Newsletter 9/24 - Start of the 2026 15’s Season
Hello BRFC Family,
We are back with our first newsletter of the fall 15’s season. The season has been off to a hot start, and we are extremely excited to share what’s been going on! We all came back to campus the first week of September ready to go and eager to be back out on Page Field. We began with a very successful club fair and have recruited a strong and promising freshman class.
For our first real run of the season, we played in a scrimmage at Bowdoin on September 12. While we were both playing for the first time that season, both sides played competitive rugby, and allowed for many freshman and inexperienced players to get a chance to play some of their first rugby. One of the highlights was the first try of the scrimmage, scored by freshman winger Sebatian (Zebby) Crossland, who took the ball down the sideline with precision and speed, making multiple defenders miss.
We then began to prepare for Colby, knowing that we had a strong team and a bitter rival on the docket. Unfortunately, the Colby game did not go our way, but the team played hard until the end and put everything they had on the field. While we were on the losing side of the contest, we tackled well as a team, and in general played strong defense through most of the game, but struggled to remain in possession on offense.
Looking ahead the lads are excited to face off against Thomas College tomorrow night, under the lights at Garcelon field. We hope to get back in the win column and reset the tone for the season going forward.
